Hillsborough Police Make Arrest After Shooting
Updated at 9:02 p.m. on May 6, 2024: To note that the police learned that the victim and shooter had been traveling together from Charlotte.
Hillsborough police officers arrested a man early Saturday morning after assisting a shooting victim in the southern part of town.
Stephan Brooks, 75, of Charlotte was arrested and charged with first-degree attempted murder and first-degree kidnapping. He is being held at the Orange County Detention Center without bond.
At about 1:30 a.m., officers observed a woman in distress running across Cardinal Drive. They learned she was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to Duke University Hospital and was listed in stable condition.
While in the area, officers observed a vehicle fleeing the area, stopped the vehicle and arrested Brooks without incident. A firearm was seized during the arrest.The police learned that the victim and shooter had been traveling together from Charlotte.
