Volunteers are invited to help weed the Gold Park pollinator garden the third Thursday of each month, March through October.
Work alongside master gardeners while helping maintain the Gold Park pollinator garden!
Gathering at 9 a.m. monthly, volunteers work in the garden for up to two hours. The workdays generally take place the third Thursday of each month, March through October. Volunteers are encouraged to bring sun protection, a water bottle and any favorite gardening tools.
The pollinator garden is located near the train trestle at the town park, 415 Dimmocks Mill Road. It is maintained by the Orange County Master Gardener Program, which is administered through the Orange County Center for the N.C. Cooperative Extension. In addition to providing nectar and larval food for pollinators, the garden provides an opportunity for community members to observe and learn about pollinators.
The Town of Hillsborough is part of the Bee City USA program, working to raise awareness about the role pollinators play in sustaining more than 75% of the world’s plant species. For more information about the designation or the town’s public spaces, contact Public Space Manager Stephanie Trueblood by email or by phone at 919-296-9481.
