Hillsborough Police Investigating Assault on Cheshire Drive
A man was arrested, another sustained serious injuries.

Hillsborough police have arrested a Graham man in a disturbance involving a fight and a firearm Friday evening in southern Hillsborough. Another man sustained serious injuries.
Based on information currently available, the incident appears to be isolated with no ongoing threat to the public.
At about 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, Hillsborough police officers responded to the 200 block of Cheshire Drive, with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, they located multiple people believed to be involved in the incident and detained four as part of the initial investigation.
The victim, a 35-year-old man of Graham, was transported UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill for treatment. He is believed to be in stable condition at this time.
Chan Owens, 29, of Graham was identified as the primary offender. He was arrested and transported to Orange County Jail, where he was charged with:
Felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious bodily injury.
Misdemeanor resisting a public officer.
He is in the custody of the Orange County Sheriff's Office and awaiting his first appearance. The remaining individuals detained at the scene were later released. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
