Before you plant or build, check for easements on your property.
Post Date:May 15, 2026 8:00 a.m.Utilities easements are periodically mowed and cleared of brush to keep them accessible for maintenance and repairs.
A contractor for the town is expected to begin mowing water and sewer easements on Monday, May 18.
The work is expected to be finished by the end of June.
Two crews from Wellsmont Landscaping will work simultaneously. One will start in the northern service area by a town water tank near Pathways Elementary School and the other in the southern zone near another town water tank in the Waterstone development. They will work toward Hillsborough’s central service area.
Please stay alert for mowing crews for your safety and the safety of workers.
About Easements
Easements are documented to reserve property for a specific use, such as maintaining the town's water and sewer system. They do not remove property from an owner, but they must be kept clear of any plantings or structures.
Before you plant or build, make sure you are aware of any easements on your property. If utilities workers need to access a town easement, the town will not replace any plants, fences, sheds or other structures that are removed from the easement.
The town also cannot plant or maintain any trees or bushes within its easements.
