Independence Day

Independence Day is a federal holiday marked on July 4 in the United States. It commemorates the Declaration of Independence, which was ratified on July 4, 1776, establishing the United States of America.

Hillsborough is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the declaration’s signing with a free public festival from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. July 4 in River Park. See the Together We Are America page for more information on the event, which is being offered in partnership with Orange County.

Town banners celebrating the 250th anniversary will be displayed from July to November. See the banner rotation schedule for planned dates of display.
