Post Date:June 30, 2026 10:11 a.m.
Hillsborough, North Carolina reservoir
The West Fork Eno Reservoir is a secondary source of water for the town.

The Town of Hillsborough treated almost 720 million gallons of drinking water last year. Check out information about the treatment process and what’s in your water in the latest annual water quality report, available online and by request.

The 2025 report includes information on substances that the town monitors in your drinking water. It also includes information on unregulated and emerging contaminants, like PFAS, PFOS and GenX. Also featured is information on:

  • Hillsborough’s water treatment process and its performance
  • Water quality specifics from the federal Environmental Protection Agency
  • Lead service lines

Request a printed copy or a Spanish translation from the Utilities Department by using the contact form or by calling 919-296-9630.

More Information

The town routinely checks for more than 150 substances in your drinking water according to federal and state laws. In some cases, it goes beyond sampling requirements. For instance, water samples at the treatment plant are tested every two hours instead of the required four.

See more information about our water sources, treatment, distribution and maintenance on the About Water page on the town website.
