Hillsborough police officers are offering a half-day football camp for children ages 8 to 12 on Aug. 19.

“We’re looking forward to hosting this camp to build relationships and show the importance of teamwork,” said Police Officer Peyton McCullough, who organized the camp.

The camp will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cates Creek Park, 1445 Cates Creek Parkway in Hillsborough. Parents or guardians should register their children in advance and sign a waiver during drop-off. Drop-off will begin at 8:30 a.m. Parents are asked to pick up their children promptly at 1 p.m.

Officers will provide a lunch of beef hot dogs and potato chips. Children are invited to pack a lunch if they prefer.

Participants should wear comfortable athletic clothing and shoes and should bring a full water bottle. Cleats are not permitted on the fields in town parks.

The camp will focus on building skills and community.
