The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners met Monday, Aug. 10, at the Town Hall Annex. Following is a brief summary of noteworthy actions. It does not include all actions taken at the meeting and should not be viewed as official minutes.

Appointments

For the Board of Adjustment, the board:

• Reappointed David Blankfard as an in-town regular member for a term ending Sept. 30, 2029. 
• Formally requested that the Orange County Board of Commissioners reappoint Richard Chapple as a regular member representing the town’s extraterritorial jurisdiction for a term ending Sept. 30, 2027. 

Strategic Plan 

The board received a final progress update for initiatives set in the Fiscal Year 2024-26 Strategic Plan. The plan was approved in June 2024 and has served as an action-oriented road map, aligning the town’s resources with priorities.  

Administrative Services Director Jen Della Valle also presented plans for developing the next strategic plan, which will set priorities for fiscal years 2028-2030. The town will soon seek input from the town’s residents, businesses and nonprofit organizations through surveys that will be used to develop the new plan.  

Additional questions have been added to this year’s community survey, which will start arriving in the mailboxes of all town residents at the end of the month. Town residents are encouraged to complete and return the survey as soon as possible.
