Gold Park Reopens After Tropical Storm

The Gold Park playground restored after storm damage.
The playground and the dog park were resurfaced after being damaged during Tropical Storm Chantal.

Gold Park and a section of the Riverwalk greenway are now open to the public after being damaged during Tropical Storm Chantal.

Riverwalk is open from Eno Mountain Road to Cameron Street. The greenway remains closed from Cameron Street to Occoneechee Speedway.

Repairs

Hillsborough Public Works crews removed hazards, and contractors made repairs to Gold Park by:

  • Removing trees, mud and debris.
  • Renovating the restrooms.
  • Resurfacing the playground and dog park.
  • Replacing damaged fencing.

  • Recreation — Contractors are resurfacing Riverwalk between Cameron Street and the Occoneechee Speedway Trail. The portion of the greenway closest to Occoneechee Speedway Trail is owned and maintained by the state. See other recreation facilities in Hillsborough.
