Riverwalk Fully Reopened After Tropical Storm

Repairs have been completed on the last damaged section of the greenway

The section of Riverwalk greenway east of the Cameron Street entrance reopened Monday.

The last closed section of the Riverwalk greenway reopened to the public today after being damaged during Tropical Storm Chantal.

Riverwalk is now open from Eno Mountain Road to the state’s greenway that connects to the Occoneechee Speedway.

Repairs

The section of greenway east of Cameron Street was closed the longest to remove debris and rebuild the trail.

Contractors:

  • Removing fallen trees, mud and debris.
  • Reinstalled geofabric.
  • Resurfaced the trail with Chapel Hill gravel.
