Invasive Plants Removal

The invasive species removal team meets weekly to remove invasive plants from Hillsborough’s public spaces as part of a program of the Hillsborough Tree Board. 

The team gathers on Wednesdays for two hours in the afternoon in the cooler months and in the morning during warmer months. If it’s removal season, they bring loppers and shears to remove plants. If it’s planting season, they bring shovels and trowels.

Trees Are Good

The International Society of Arboriculture manages the educational website Trees Are Good, which offers quality tree care information for homeowners and other tree owners.

Tree City USA

The town has been a part of the Arbor Day Foundation's Tree City USA program since 2003. To qualify for the program, the town is required to have:

• A tree board or department.
• A tree care ordinance.
• A community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per resident.
• An annual Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

Terms

Membership

Members serve a maximum of two consecutive three-year terms. If a vacancy occurs during a member's term, the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners appoints a successor for the remaining term.
