Government 101

The mayor, town manager, town attorney and communications manager answered participants' questions at the first session.

Participants met one another and shared reasons for signing up at the first session.

Elected officials and staff ate dinner with participants before the formal program began.
The town offers a multi-week course aimed at helping community members increase their knowledge of town government, as well as their interest and ability in influencing and participating in town decisions.
Fall 2023
Government 101 will be offered Thursday evenings Sept. 14-Oct. 19 with a Saturday morning utilities tour on Sept. 30 and a brief closing presentation at 7 p.m. Monday Oct. 23.
The application will be posted Aug. 7 and will remain open until Aug. 28.
Participants need to attend at least six of the eight sessions to graduate.
Objectives
The objectives of the program are to:
- Increase community members' knowledge, interest and ability to influence and participate in town government.
- Reduce barriers to participating in and influencing town government decisions through increased understanding of key processes and operations.
- Assist in building community members' interest in serving the community through future service.
- Learn from community members attending the course.
