Hillsborough Police Arrest Man on Drug and Weapons Charges

The Hillsborough Police Department arrested a man on drug and weapons charges on Friday, July 14.
At about 11:30 a.m. police stopped Randy Fields, 39, of 1717 Rosetta Drive, Durham, on South Churton Street near Interstate 85 for driving a car without working brake lights. As officers approached Fields’ 1996 Nissan Maxima, they smelled marijuana smoke. After searching the car, officers recovered 11 grams of marijuana, 9 grams of powder and crack cocaine, seven 5 mg Oxycodone pills, one 20 mg Oxycontin pill, 1½ 10 mg Methadone Hydrochloride pills, 90 ml of codeine cough syrup, a loaded .357 handgun with two magazines, scales and $120 cash.
Fields is being held in the Orange Correctional Center on a $7,500 bond on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine. Additional charges are pending.
