Oktoberfest Event to Benefit Water Assistance Program
Monday, Sept. 11, 2017
The Hillsborough Rotary Club is hosting an Oktoberfest event at the Hillsborough Farmers Market Pavilion to raise money for programs that help people access clean water, including a Town of Hillsborough program.
The event will take place from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 14 and includes a beer tasting and a buffet dinner.
Half of the money raised will go to the Hillsborough Water Assistance Program, which benefits customers who need help paying Hillsborough water and sewer bills. The other half will go to an international rotary club project that provides clean water for schools.
“We wanted to do something to help people in Hillsborough,” said Arthur Sprinczeles, a Hillsborough Rotary Club member who also serves on the town’s advisory committee on water and sewer issues. The local club has a history of raising scholarship money for high school seniors. This is the club’s first fundraiser for the Water Assistance Program.
The 200 tickets to this event are sold only in advance and cost $35. They are available at Hillsborough Pharmacy, 110 Boone Square St. in Hillsborough. Those interested in purchasing tickets also may contact Sprinczeles by phone at 919-452-2757 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Hillsborough Water Assistance Program is funded by donations and is administered through a partnership with Orange Congregations in Mission, a local nonprofit organization. About 100 water and sewer accounts are overdue each month, with customers sometimes incurring late fees and service disruptions.
