Police Department’s Annual Toy Drive Kicks Off
Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018
The Hillsborough Police Department’s annual holiday toy drive is kicking off again with help from the Timeless Cruizers car club of Efland.
The Benefit Cruize In takes place rain or shine from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 10 at Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes and Fries, located at 601 Hampton Pointe Blvd. Participants are invited to bring new unwrapped toys and nonperishable food to the event and enjoy viewing several antique cars while there.
The toys will be distributed to children during the Police Department’s annual visit from Santa in December. The donated food will be delivered by the Timeless Cruizers to the local pantry run by Orange Congregations in Mission.
Hillsborough police are accepting donations of toys for children — infants to 15-year-olds. Donations of dolls, balls, games and toys for toddlers as well as gifts for teenagers are expected to be especially needed. No toy weapons or candy should be donated.
Donations may be made at the Benefit Cruize In on Nov. 10 or at the Police Department’s main station, 127 N. Churton St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays through noon Dec. 13.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will make their annual visit to the lobby of the main police station from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 13. That evening, children up to the age of 15 years old in Hillsborough are welcome to visit the station and tell St. Nick their holiday wishes. Each child will receive a gift. Photos taken at the event may be posted on the Police Department’s Facebook page.
