Fiber Optic Lines to be Installed Along Town Streets
Updated June 18 at 10:25 a.m.: This version corrects the direction work will follow through town and clarifies ownership of the lines.
Globe Communications will begin installing fiber optic lines along some state-maintained streets this week.
The upcoming work will begin along South Churton Street north of Interstate 85, moving north to U.S. 70A, which it will follow before continuing onto N.C. 86. It is part of a larger installation project that is expected to take about a year.
Fiber optic cable will be installed within the public right of way either in underground conduits or on utility poles. Ownership of the fiber optic lines will be transferred to Verizon Access Transmission Services after completion of the work.
