A free youth Environmental Science Saturday Academy will begin in September.

Participants will learn about water quality issues through water quality and environmental science learning labs. Community service projects will include river cleanup, stream buffer restoration and bioretention cell plantings.

The six-session program, open to students in grades 6-12, will last through July 2020. Those interested in participating should complete the form at go.ncsu.edu/orangewaterquality by Aug. 30.

The academy is being offered by Orange County 4-H, the Piedmont Conservation Council and the Triangle Community Foundation. The Town of Hillsborough’s Stormwater and Environmental Services Division, the Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District and other agencies will participate in academy sessions.
