Get Involved in New Climate Council

A joint council is forming to accelerate local action on climate change issues.

The Orange County Climate Council will have representation from local governments, schools and some nonprofit organizations. The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners will appoint a resident to serve as an at-large member.

The public is invited to attend the first council meeting at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Southern Human Services Center, 2501 Homestead Road in Chapel Hill. Those interested in applying to represent Hillsborough are highly encouraged to attend the meeting.

To apply for the council seat, complete the advisory board application on the town’s website by 5 p.m. Sept. 30. The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners will make an appointment at its regular meeting on Oct. 14.

Commissioner Jenn Weaver and Assistant to the Town Manager/Deputy Budget Director Jen Della Valle will also represent Hillsborough on the council.
