Annual Wastewater Quality Report Now Available

Friday, Sept. 27, 2019
Because of its location upstream of Falls Lake, the Hillsborough Wastewater Treatment Plant is required to treat its wastewater at higher and more expensive standards than other sewer systems. Falls Lake is on the EPA's list of impaired waters.

The Town of Hillsborough’s latest annual wastewater quality report is available now on the town’s website.

The report covers Fiscal Year 2018-19 ― from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. It includes information on the town’s wastewater collection and treatment systems and the performance of these systems. It also includes information on how to protect homes and the environment by properly disposing of fats, oils and grease and items like sanitary wipes that should not be flushed. Improper disposal of these can block pipes and result in sewer overflows.

The report is available on the Wastewater Treatment Plant page of the town website. Printed copies are available at the Town Hall Annex, 105 E. Corbin St. For a copy by mail, contact Utilities Analyst Julie Laws by email or by phone at 919-296-9630.
