Mayor Jenn Weaver’s first State of the Town Address will be a virtual address, as our community takes increased precautions to slow the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.

“It is disappointing to be unable to gather together, shoulder to shoulder, to share the State of the Town with the community this year,” Mayor Jenn Weaver said.

At 7 p.m. March 23, Weaver will keep the tradition of delivering the annual State of the Town Address but not at a public meeting. Instead, everyone is encouraged to watch the address:

A summary also will be provided in a news release.

“The necessary precautions against COVID-19 provide us with the opportunity to deeply consider what it means to live in a true community with one another: How are we looking out for the vulnerable on our block? How is social distancing an act of protection and compassion for our neighbors near and more removed? These are powerful questions to consider and will ultimately make Hillsborough stronger.”

Questions solicited

The public is invited to send in questions for the mayor to possibly answer in her address. Questions can be submitted until 5 p.m. March 18 through the town’s engagement platform, Engage Hillsborough. The Town of Hillsborough is piloting this engagement platform to enhance our communication efforts and to lower some of the barriers to providing input.
