Mayor Declares State of Emergency, Requests State Aid for Road Repair

An estimated 6 inches of rain fell on Hillsborough June 11-12, causing Cates Creek to overflow and wash out a portion of Valley Forge Road.

Hillsborough Mayor Jenn Weaver has declared a state of emergency due to a washout of a section of Valley Forge Road following recent heavy rains.

The state of emergency includes a request for the state to contribute to the estimated $730,000 cost of repairing the road, which would be approximately 3.3% of the town’s operating budget for the current fiscal year and is beyond the financial capacity of the town.

An estimated 6 inches of rain fell on Hillsborough June 11-12, causing Cates Creek to overflow and wash out a portion of the road, cutting off access to the Builders FirstSource facility. Crews have begun making temporary repairs to the road.
