Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020

The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners met Monday, Sept. 14. Following is a brief summary of noteworthy actions. It does not include all actions taken at the meeting and should not be viewed as official minutes. The meeting took place virtually with online conferencing software and is available for view on the town’s YouTube channel.

The board made the following appointments:

  • Alyse Polly to the Planning Board for a second term, expiring Aug. 31, 2023.
  • Joe Becker to the Board of Adjustment for a first term, expiring Sept. 30, 2023.
  • Casey Collins to the Tree Board for a second term, expiring Sept. 30, 2023.
  • Tim Logue to the Tree Board for a second term, expiring Sept. 30, 2023.

Parking pads

The board discussed possible frameworks for approving or denying parking pads. Parking pads are not allowed to be built in the town’s right of way, but the board has approved some when homeowners have directly sought the board's permission for an exception. No action was taken.

The board approved a property owner’s request to annex approximately 6.25 acres at 202 Holiday Park Road. The board then voted to amend the Future Land Use Plan designation from Rural Living to Retail Services and to zone the property General Commercial. The property was formerly used for a Moose Lodge. The owners have said they plan to create storage units in the buildings on site.

At the request of a developer, the board rezoned almost 2 acres on the north side of West King Street between Nash and Hayes streets from Residential-15 to Residential-10 to accommodate the construction of new homes.

Land gift

The board voted to accept as a gift 0.8 acres of land at the eastern intersection of Meadowlands Drive and U.S. 70A.
