Cates Creek Park Compost Blanket Project Receives Award, Stormwater Almanac Available

The Town of Hillsborough’s compost blanket project at Cates Creek Park has received an honorable mention award from the Stormwater Management Division of the American Public Works Association’s North Carolina chapter.
Stormwater Project of the Year winners were announced in November, with the town’s project recognized in the natural systems category.
Staff from the town’s Public Space and Stormwater and Environmental Services divisions collaborated on the project, which installed compost and native plants on slopes in Cates Creek Park to eliminate erosion, reduce stormwater runoff and provide other benefits to the natural environment.
To learn more about the project, see the latest issue of the town’s Stormwater Almanac. The almanac is created by the town’s Stormwater and Environmental Services Division. For more information, contact Stormwater and Environmental Services Manager Terry Hackett by email or by phone at 919-296-9621.
