Town Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The Town of Hillsborough has been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association for excellence in financial reporting for both its comprehensive and its citizens annual financial reports.
The certificates of achievement are the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The awards were given based on review of the town’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and Citizens Annual Financial Report for Fiscal Year 2018-19.
The town has received the award for its comprehensive report for 26 years and for its citizens report for three years. This is the fourth year the town has issued a citizens report.
The comprehensive report is a complete set of the town’s financial statements for the previous fiscal year. The citizens report, which is also referred to as a popular annual financial report, summarizes the information found in the comprehensive report. The citizens report is meant to update citizens and other interested parties about the town’s finances in a way that is more appealing and easier to understand than the comprehensive report.
Comprehensive and citizens annual financial reports for Fiscal Year 2019-20 are available from the Financial Services page of the town’s website.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving about 19,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
