Volunteers Needed to Serve on Appointed Boards
Interested in offering your time and insight to a Hillsborough board? The Planning Board and the Board of Adjustment need volunteers.
The Planning Board is seeking to fill two upcoming vacant seats: one designated for a town resident and the other for someone who lives in the town’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, which is land outside town limits but within the town’s zoning jurisdiction. See the Jurisdiction and Service Areas page on the town website to determine whether you reside in the extraterritorial jurisdiction.
The Planning Board reviews planning issues within the town’s zoning jurisdiction. It also reviews and makes recommendations on rezonings, subdivisions and ordinance amendments.
Meetings are at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of the month. Due to current public health concerns, the board is meeting remotely via Zoom. Terms are for three years. Visit the Planning Board page on the town website. For more information, contact Planning Director Margaret Hauth by email or by phone at 919-296-9471.
Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment has a vacant seat designated for someone who lives in the town’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.
The board reviews and rules on applications for conditional use permits and variances. The board also hears appeals of decisions of town staff and the Historic District Commission.
Meetings are at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month and currently are held remotely. Terms are for three years. Visit the Board of Adjustment page on the town website. For more information, contact Senior Planner Tom King by email or by phone at 919-296-9472.
