Board of Commissioners Meeting Summary

The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners met Monday, Nov. 8. Following is a brief summary of noteworthy actions. It does not include all actions taken at the meeting and should not be viewed as official minutes. The meeting took place virtually with online conferencing software and is available for view on the town’s YouTube channel.


The board:

  • Adopted a resolution requesting that the Orange County Board of Commissioners appoint Saru Salvi to fill a three-year term on the Hillsborough Planning Board that is designated for a resident of the extraterritorial jurisdiction area.
  • Reappointed Jesse Mowles-Aring to a three-year term on the Parks and Recreation Board.

Budget retreat

The board informally agreed to reserve March 21 for a two-hour budget retreat meeting and to reserve March 28 and April 4 for continuation of the retreat if needed.

In-person meeting discussion

The board informally agreed to meet in person for the December regular meeting.

November work session likely to be canceled

The board noted that the work session scheduled for Nov. 22 will likely be canceled but did not cancel the meeting in case an urgent matter arises.

Manager’s evaluation

The board conducted the town manager’s evaluation in closed session. Upon returning to open session, the board expressed appreciation for the leadership provided by Town Manager Eric Peterson and voted to approve a 4% raise.
