StoryWalk Available in Gold Park
A special installation is available along the green loop trail in Gold Park through September.
Girls Scouts from Troop 3890 created a StoryWalk in the park as a community service project.
StoryWalk, which is trademarked, involves laminating pages from a children’s book and temporarily staking a page every few yards along a trail. Families visit the trail to read the story and enjoy time outside.
Girl Scout Troop 3890 chose “The Great Indoors” by Julie Falatko because they thought the book was funny. The troop installed the StoryWalk the last weekend in August and hosted a special event for other Girl Scout troops and girls interested in Scouting to enjoy the trail and engage in activities related to the book.
“The StoryWalk is a way to give back to the community,” said Troop Leader Kelley Massengale. “It’s been a great experience for the girls.”
Girl Scout Troop 3890 plans to check on the installation every few days and pick up trash along the trail.
The Hillsborough Parks and Recreation Board approved the StoryWalk installation at a board meeting in June.
Gold Park is located at 415 Dimmocks Mill Road. The green loop trail is located by the picnic shelter across from the restrooms and loops around the dog park.
