Local Editor to Join Hillsborough Communications Division

The Town of Hillsborough has selected a new communications team member.
Dale Edwards, editor of The News of Orange County and Mebane Enterprise, will begin working for the town March 27.
“We are excited to have Dale join our team of former local journalists,” Communications Manager Catherine Wright said. “His writing, design and social media skills — combined with his dedication to strengthening community ties — make him a great fit and will help us as we continue to strengthen Hillsborough’s communications and engagement.”
Edwards has served as the editor of The News of Orange County since January 2020. Before that, he worked as a design editor for the Triad Business Journal for more than 20 years and as a copy editor and page designer for the News & Record in Greensboro for over 10 years.
As a communications specialist for Hillsborough, Edwards will work with Wright and Senior Communications Specialist Cheryl Sadgrove to keep the community informed and engaged through the town website, news releases, social media posts and various publications, including a monthly newsletter. He also will help in the division’s engagement work, participating in Government 101 sessions in the fall and community engagement meetings like the upcoming Engage Hillsborough safety-focused meeting on April 29.
“I honestly can’t think of a better use of my passions than having a role in serving the community in bringing it critical and useful information and understanding,” Edwards said.
