Police Seek Man Involved in Shooting

A juvenile was injured in the incident at a block party Saturday night.

Hillsborough police are seeking a Mebane man believed to have been involved in a shooting that injured a juvenile at a block party Saturday night in northern Hillsborough.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Cedric Lamont Watson Jr., 18, of Mebane for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and for discharging a firearm in town limits. More charges are pending. Watson is considered armed and dangerous.

On June 3, just before midnight, Hillsborough officers responded to a report of someone being shot in the 500 block of Riddle Avenue. They were assisted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Upon arrival, officers found a large block party of about 200 people occurring. They located a 17-year-old victim from Mebane who had been shot in the back. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is expected to recover.
