Shooting Suspect Arrested

A juvenile was shot at a block party Saturday night

The suspect sought by the Hillsborough Police Department after a shooting Saturday night has been arrested.

Cedric Lamont Watson Jr., 18, of Mebane was taken into custody June 5 in Mebane by Hillsborough officers with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm in town limits.

Watson is being held on a $600,000 bond.

Just before midnight on June 3, Hillsborough officers responded to a report of someone being shot in the 500 block of Riddle Avenue. They were assisted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Upon arrival, officers found a large block party of about 200 people occurring. They located a 17-year-old victim from Mebane who had been shot in the back. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is expected to recover.
