Donate through Orange Congregations in Mission

Note the donation is for the Hillsborough Water Assistance Program.

The town started the program in 2006 to help customers in need pay water and sewer bills. It partnered with the local nonprofit organization Orange Congregations in Mission to manage the program.

In both the first and second years of the program, the town provided $5,000 of seed money from its general fund.

Because the program relies on donations, Orange Congregations in Mission has been filling the gap in available funds and community need with donations it collects directly.

In 2024, Orange Congregations in Mission provided $61,586 in water assistance to 398 households.

• The customers received an average of $154.73 in aid.
• About $2,836 was supplied from donations made to the Water Assistance Program. Those direct donations helped 24 households. 

In both fiscal years 2025 and 2026, the town authorized providing $10,000 from its general fund for the program.
