3 People Charged with ABC Violations at Tobacco Store

Two ABC permit holders and an employee have been charged

Three people connected to a tobacco store in Hillsborough have been charged with violations of alcoholic beverage control laws, with one person arrested at this time. 

North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement — with assistance from the Hillsborough Police Department — charged the following Durham individuals on Tuesday, Oct. 17: 

  • ABC permit holder Abda Hassan Saleh, 66, with 21 counts consisting of ABC violations, felony gambling, and violations of Chapter 90 of the North Carolina General Statutes. Abda Hassan Saleh was arrested Tuesday. 

  • ABC permit holder Malek Hassan Saleh, 31, with 21 counts consisting of ABC violations, felony gambling, and Chapter 90 violations. 

  • Employee Mokhtar Saleh, 40, with 1 count of allowing fighting on ABC licensed premises. 

The three people are connected to Country Markets & Tobacco, an alcohol beverage control permitted establishment at 909 W. King St. A violation report will be submitted to the ABC Commission, which will review the investigative violation report and determine whether to issue the business a fine and whether to suspend, revoke or cancel its ABC permits. The permit is required for alcohol sales in North Carolina. 

Chapter 90 of the N.C. General Statutes relates to medicine and allied occupations.
