On-street parking
Free three-hour parking is available on:
- Court Street
- Churton Street
- King Street
- East Margaret Lane
Free all-day parking is available on:
- South Cameron Street
- King Street
Parking lots
Free three-hour parking is available in the following locations:
- West King Street Parking Lot, accessed from Churton and West King streets
- Mayo Park Parking Lot, accessed from West King Street
Parking deck
Free all-day parking is available in Orange County's Eno River Parking Deck, accessed from Margaret Lane or Nash and Kollock Street.

Service providers
Several transportation options are available in Hillsborough, with services provided by:
- Orange County Transportation Services — The county provides comprehensive, locally accessible, community-based transportation services.
- GoTriangle — The agency operates regional bus and shuttle service, paratransit services, ridematching and vanpools. It provides commuter resources and an emergency ride home program and serves as the regional information call center for the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, including Hillsborough.
Bus routes
Hillsborough is served by three bus routes:
- Hillsborough Circulator — The county route provides bus service to sites in Hillsborough and a connection to GoTriangle's Route 420.
- Orange-Durham Express — The GoTriangle provides express service between Hillsborough and Durham.
- Route 420 — The GoTriangle route connects downtown Hillsborough to downtown Chapel Hill and UNC Hospitals.
Other transportation
Transportation options in addition to bus service are available in Hillsborough.
- Commuter options — Orange County Commuter Options helps people get to work without driving in alone, with options including public transportation, car and van pools, and telework.
- Disabled transportation — Orange County provides accessible transportation to people unable to use the fixed-route bus service because of a disability. Rides must be within three-quarters of a mile of fixed routes, and participants must apply.
- Elderly transportation — Orange County helps find alternative transportation options for the elderly.
- Mobility on demand — Orange County provides mobility on demand service (MOD) that comes directly to the riders and takes them to their destinations.
The town is working with the state to reestablish passenger rail service and provide for economic development in Hillsborough, using 20 acres the town owns adjacent to the North Carolina Railroad corridor. For more information, see the Future Train Station page on this website.
