Information on major construction projects undertaken by the town is available below. These projects may not yet be under construction. Projects are removed after construction is completed.

The town is working with the state to reestablish passenger rail service and provide for economic development in Hillsborough, using 20 acres the town owns adjacent to the North Carolina Railroad corridor. For more information, see the project page.
Sewer lines will be repaired and relined in the Lawndale Basin in northern Hillsborough. For more information, see the project page.
A feasibility study has been conducted on a future north-south greenway that would provide a bike/ped route from the future train station to the downtown. See the project page.
A small-scale skateboarding park, or skate spot, is planned for Cates Creek Park. See the project page.
South Churton Street is being studied to develop design concepts that convey the town's interests and accomplish the goals of a state project to widen the roadway from Interstate 40 to the Eno River. See the project page.
