Updated at 1:52 p.m. on April 8, 2024: Updated to add information about blasting at night on April 10.

Traffic on Interstate 40 will be slowed due to blasting work around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10.

The on-ramp from Old N.C. 86 to the westbound lanes of I-40 will be closed for two to five minutes while the blasts occur.

Due to the time of night, the contractor will take steps to reduce the noise of the blasts.

On March 18, a contractor began blasting rock for utilities to be installed for Research Triangle Logistics Park. The logistics park is part of an approved joint economic development project between the town and the county and includes light industrial, manufacturing and warehousing space located at 157-UT Diversity Drive. The area is currently within Orange County’s zoning jurisdiction, and more information about the project is available on the county’s website
