The Public Works Division is dedicated to providing a safe, clean and healthy environment in town and maintaining a high quality of life for Hillsborough residents.
Other solid waste services are provided by Orange County Solid Waste Management. Contact Orange County for these services, which include:
- Curbside recycling and recycling drop-off sites. Curbside service is provided on Wednesdays in Hillsborough.
- Household hazardous waste collection.
- Construction and demolition waste collection.
- Solid waste convenience centers.
The town maintains most streets within its jurisdiction, while others are maintained by the state. For more information, see the Street Maintenance page on this website.
The town generally does not construct new roads. However, it manages changes within the public right of way and has requirements for new road construction. Most of these functions are handled by the town's Planning and Economic Development Division, and additional information is available in the street standards section of the division's page on this website.
